English-speaking online doctor in Portugal: a guide for expats
How to book in English (€29 GP / €35 urgent), prescriptions valid in Portugal, and limits (CIT vs sick note).
You can see a doctor online in English in Portugal through Kliniqa, also in Portuguese and Spanish. GP consultation from €29; urgent €35 with a rapid response 8am–10pm.
You do not need a family doctor or SNS for most consultations. Electronic prescriptions issued by a doctor with an OM licence are valid in Portuguese pharmacies when clinically indicated.
Exception: the CIT (official sick leave for Social Security) requires SNS + NISS. Without that, you may obtain a sick note for the employer, if justified, not a CIT with benefit.
NHS, Brazilian or other foreign prescriptions are not valid in Portuguese pharmacies. Ask for renewal or a GP consultation for a local prescription after assessment.
For mental health in English, see online psychology. For children with acute symptoms, use urgent paediatrics.
