Starting a diving course (PADI, SSI) or renewing your certification? A doctor assesses your fitness for recreational diving by video call, in line with international standards, and issues the certificate if fitness is confirmed.
Before the consultation you must complete the Diver Medical - Participant Questionnaire. If you answer "Yes" to high-risk conditions (e.g. asthma, heart disease, epilepsy), online issuance may be restricted and an in-person hyperbaric medicine review may be required before diving clearance.

Is the certificate accepted by diving schools?
Yes. The certificate is issued by a doctor registered with the Ordem dos Médicos and follows the international diving medical standards (PADI, SSI), accepted by diving schools and centres in Portugal and abroad.
What is the Diver Medical / Participant Questionnaire?
It is the standard medical questionnaire for recreational diving. You must complete it before the consultation. "Yes" answers to certain health conditions mean a medical assessment is required before diving.
What if I have asthma or heart problems?
Conditions such as asthma, heart disease or epilepsy are considered diving risks. In those cases online issuance may not be possible and the doctor refers you for an in-person hyperbaric medicine review before diving clearance.
Is the certificate valid to renew my certification?
Yes. The certificate works both to start a diving course and to renew the medical fitness required periodically by some schools and insurers.
I am on holiday in Portugal and want to dive - can I get the certificate online?
