Going back to your country of origin: do you still need a travel clinic?

Being born in the destination does not cancel the risk. After years in Portugal, immunity, overdue vaccines and malaria prophylaxis are a clinical decision again, not a childhood memory.

This applies if you are visiting family in Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, São Tomé, India or another tropical country. The doctor assesses the exact place (city, interior, coast), the season, the length of stay and what you have already had, not the passport.

Childhood vaccines may be incomplete or out of date. Yellow fever, when required for entry or indicated by risk, is given at an International Vaccination Centre, not on a video call. Kliniqa sets the plan and prescribes travel medicine if indicated.

Children who grew up in Portugal and are going “home” for the first time in years need the same care: doses, weight and schedules are not copied from the adult. If the child is ill at the time, the right booking may be urgent paediatrics, not only the travel clinic.

The consultation costs €39 per person. Bring destinations and dates, a vaccine record if you have one, allergies and medicines. You can book without an SNS number: the travel consultation does not depend on it.
