Fitness-for-work certificate: jobs, competitions and hiring
Professional fitness certificate for employment and public competitions. It is not sick leave and it does not start sickness benefit.
The professional fitness certificate confirms physical fitness for a job, a public competition or a contract. The video call takes about 20 minutes. If fitness is confirmed, the PDF is emailed.
It is not sick leave. The CIT states temporary incapacity and goes to Social Security. This certificate says the opposite: that you are fit for the role. It is also not the illness note used for a short absence.
The organisation receives the fitness conclusion, not the clinical record. Health data are not sent to the employer.
Sectors that often ask for it include health, education, public administration, security, construction and transport. SNS and a family doctor are not required. It is used by people who have just arrived in Portugal and whose employer wants an admission medical.
If the role needs a driving licence, the IMT certificate is a separate step. If it needs a psychotechnical assessment, that consultation is separate.

Does this start sickness benefit?
