Diabetes, hypertension and a weight-management consultation
Why the weight plan intersects diabetes and blood-pressure medicines, and what the doctor needs to know in the same assessment.
Anyone living with type 2 diabetes or hypertension is not doing “just a weight plan”. Weight loss, diet and any pharmacological treatment interfere with glucose, blood pressure and medicines you already take. The assessment has to look at the whole.
Bring the full list of drugs (including insulin, if used), recent blood tests (HbA1c, kidney function) and a recent record of pressures or glucose readings, if you have one. Hypos, dizziness on standing, or doses recently changed by another doctor are data, not details.
The doctor in the weight-management consultation is a general practitioner: they assess the case and, if indicated, set a plan. They do not replace diabetes follow-up at the health centre when that already exists; they connect with it through what you bring and what is written down.
Losing weight may mean reducing other medication, and that is only done with clinical judgement. Do not cut blood-pressure or diabetes tablets on your own because you are “already losing weight”.
If the reason for the visit is mainly acute decompensation (very high glucose, chest pain, shortness of breath), use the urgent pathway or 112. Weight management is a plan, not a life-threatening emergency.

Frequently asked questions
I have diabetes. Is this still the right consultation?
Yes, if the aim is to assess a medical weight-loss plan. Bring medication and blood tests; the doctor integrates those data into the decision.
Does the Kliniqa doctor become my diabetes doctor?
The consultation covers the act you booked. Ongoing chronic follow-up in the SNS, if it exists, continues. Bring reports so two plans are not pulling in opposite directions.
Can I adjust insulin myself when the weight falls?
No. Changes to insulin or antihypertensives need medical indication. Book follow-up if weight or glucose is changing quickly.
